💍 Destination Wedding in Japan: FAQ
Q: What should we know before planning a destination wedding in Japan?
A:
Planning a wedding in Japan can be quite different from other countries. Here’s what you need to know
• Most hotels and wedding halls offer fixed, all-inclusive packages with little room for customization.
• Only a limited number of venues allow you to bring your own vendors or wear your own wedding attires (additional fees may apply).
• Public photo and video shoots require government permission and advance planning.
• Working with an independent bilingual planner with strong local connections is the key to making your wedding vision come true.
Q: Are there any restrictions we should know about?
A:
Yes — Japan has some unique rules and cultural practices that affect weddings:
• Most venues do not support fully customized weddings, they stick to pre-set packages.
• Public ceremonies or photo shoots (e.g., in parks, shrines, temples) require official permission, which takes at least one month.
• Please note: We do not offer weddings or elopements in public spaces like parks or shrines.
Q: Can I have a religious ceremony in Japan?
A:
Yes, but there are limitations. Here's what to know:
• Religious ceremonies such as Christian, Jewish, or Indian weddings may be difficult to fully recreate due to local restrictions.
• Most churches only offer pre-set wedding packages through agencies.
• For the Indian wedding, some elements, such as fire rituals or turmeric, may not be permitted indoors.
However, the limited number of hotels I have special partnerships with can try their best to accommodate special requests with advance notice.
• To keep your ceremony authentic, we recommend bringing your own officiant from your home country.

Q: When is the best time to get married in Japan?
A:
Japan has four distinct seasons, each with its charm — but here are the ideal times for weddings:
Spring (Late March – May)
• Cherry blossoms bloom in late March to early April (weather can be unstable).
• Mid-April to May offers mild, comfortable weather — perfect for outdoor weddings.
Autumn (mid October – Early December)
• Cool temperatures and stunning fall foliage.
• Peak season is usually end of November to early December, making it a favorite for destination weddings.
Avoid:
• June: Rainy season
• July–early October : Hot and humid, typhoon season
• Year-end and New Year holidays : Venues tend to be fully booked with parties and family-focused events.
• Jan - February: Cold and snowy
✨ We recommend contacting us at least 6 months in advance to ensure ideal availability and smooth planning.
